Mark the calendar! While April showers bring flowers to other states, check out some of the events planned in Phoenix this month.
Kick the month off with an April Fool’s Day baseball game. That’s when the Arizona Diamondbacks face the San Francisco Giants in Phoenix’s iconic Chase Field, in the first of fifteen home games this month. They’ll also play the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and Colorado Rockies.
On Saturday, April 5, Salt River Fields will host the Arizona BBQ Festival. The fifth annual event runs from 11 AM to 8 PM and includes BBQ cooking demonstrations and feasts, in addition to unique entertainment traditions such as the Daisy Duke Beauty Pageant and the 2014 Redneck Games.
The artsy at heart — if they’re also available on weekday mornings — can enjoy an Arizona tradition on Wednesday, April 16. Coffee at Kerr returns to Scottsdale’s ASU Kerr Cultural Center, combining the flavors of Buzzberry Bistro with the sounds of local Arizona musicians and bands. Coffee starts at 9:30 AM, and the music starts an hour later. While admission is free, event organizers will be accepting donations of canned or sealed food items for Vista Del Camino Food Bank.
Both the Phoenix Art Museum and the Musical Instrument Museum Theater have temporary exhibits open until April 20. "Read My Pins" will be open until 5 PM from Thursday through Sunday (and 9 PM on Wednesday), while "Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" is here 9 AM to 5 PM, every day except Sunday.
