How to Stay Healthy This Winter

How to Stay Healthy This Winter

Keep your health in check this winter by fueling your body right.

Winter is all about festivities and socializing – the ideal time not to get ill with a cold or the flu. Luckily, there are ways for you to boost your immune system and still enjoy the festive season around people!

Use these tips to boost your immune system so that you can stay healthy this winter!

Boost Your Diet

Look at your intake of fruit and vegetables a day… Now double it. Load up on vegetables (at least five portions each day), and fruit (two+ servings). Stock up on foods that are high in vitamin C to keep your immune system strong: lemons, kiwi, and broccoli. Skip the dairy as this can increase congestion, and opt for a plant-based diet consisting of beans, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds.

Exercise Regularly

It’s vital to keep your workout regime up doing winter! Regular aerobic exercise, five or more days a week for more than 20 minutes a day helps to boost immunity and keep us happy (and trim!) all season long!

Wash Up

Frequent hand washing is one of the best ways to avoid getting ill and spreading sickness! This is especially important in winter when we tend to cough and sneeze more frequently. While antibacterial hand gel is good for when you can’t get to the sink right away, aim to up your trips to the bathroom.

Stay Connected

Believe it or not but socializing helps to strengthen your immune system! It keeps you active and reduces your stress levels, so avoid the temptation to stay on the sofa all weekend.
